May. Hundreds of veterans from the former Soviet Union participated in a celebratory performance held in the Haifa Auditorium, as part of the events commemorating the 76th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany.

The veterans attended the show with their families, including their children and grandchildren, who joined in singing the various singers who performed many of the songs that accompanied the fighters during the War.

Later that week, Mayor Einat Kalisch Rotem and her deputies Nachshon Tzuk and Lazar Kaplun held a reception at the Town Hall for ambassadors of the former Soviet Union, with the participation of veterans and their families, deputy mayors Tzuk and Kaplun, as well as ambassadors from Russia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus and Ukraine.

The events marking Victory Day over Nazi Germany opened in Haifa with festive concerts held in assisted living complexes housing veterans of WWII. Other events to mark Victory Day included a wreath-laying ceremony at the Jewish Fighter Memorial, at International Garden in Ramot Remez, with Deputy Mayor Kaplun, Russian Consul in Haifa Igor Popov, and representatives of the veterans.
